Branding Early-Stage Companies

Brand and marketing strategy is essential to the launch and growth of young companies. I truly enjoy the energy of a company at its beginning, and while my firm, str.ate.gy , works with established national and multinational brands, we have a particular love for start-ups. In general, software, digital media, web, or other tech-space/consumer Internet companies in an early-stage financing situation are not founded by marketers. The idea may be great, the technology may be innovative and effective, but the companies often lack brand image, go-to-market strategy, and often even a name.

I work with investors who want to give their investments a running start and with entrepreneurs who want an edge.

I build out fully realized brand strategies up to and including naming, brand identity, visual language, online presence, and go-to-market strategy. I also work, if necessary, on user interface, featuresets, and other product issues relating to user experience. This allows a new company to be ready for launch without forcing a full build-out of the management team or a hurried search for in-house marketing talent.

A considered marketing approach, initiated early, puts the young company well ahead of the game. It also gives founders and investors an opportunity to develop a shared brand and marketing vision and allows the company to focus on use of funds and operational strategy without losing development time or time to market. The talented people I bring to each project are team players and can easily transition any level of brand infrastructure to existing or incoming internal marketing when the time is right.
